INMETRO has published Ordinance No. 188/2026, updating the requirements established by Ordinance No. 102/2022 for water consumption equipment. The changes introduce significant impacts on certification processes, laboratory testing, and technical documentation.
Key highlights include:
- Mandatory extractables testing for all equipment
The previous exemption for products without water quality improvement function has been removed. All equipment must now undergo extractables testing. - Updated electrical safety requirements
Assessments will now directly follow standards such as IEC 60335-1, IEC 60335-2-24, IEC 60335-2-15, and IEC 60335-2-75, as applicable.
The new Table 2a improves clarity in defining required tests. - Restructured test tables
Requirements and acceptance criteria have been reorganized, reinforcing compliance with both RTQ and applicable standards. - Energy efficiency classification (A to E)
A standardized classification system improves transparency for consumers through ENCE labeling. - Expanded labeling and documentation requirements
Additional mandatory information will impact packaging, labels, and instruction manuals. - Updated Conformity Certificate requirements
Certificates must now specify whether the product is intended for residential or commercial use. - Changes to extractables testing procedures
Detailed sampling procedures were removed, requiring direct compliance with applicable standards and RTQ criteria.
